Wendy Dytman, M.A., Registered M.F.T. Intern – Her theoretical orientation is eclectic, and she relies on a strength-based model. She will be curious about the goals and aspirations of the client, and will support the client towards achieving them.
Matt Healy, M.A., Registered M.F.T. Intern – Matt takes a strength-based approach to therapy, and believes that focusing on the areas of a client's life which are working is more beneficial than pathologizing the areas which are not.
Rick Hupp, M.A., Registered M.F.T. Intern – After spending 15 years in the computer hardware industry, and another seven as a general contractor, Rick traded in one set of tools for another and returned to school to pursue his lifelong curiosity: Psychology. Based on his academic achievements, he was admitted to the Psi Chi International Honor Society while receiving his M.S. in counseling psychology from California Lutheran University in 2010. He’s helped survivors of trauma and sufferers of anxiety and depression to lead more fulfilling lives, and enthusiastically enjoys helping couples resolve conflict and rediscover their passion. Rick continues to cultivate his skills by attending workshops and study groups, including Sue Johnson’s EFT (Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy), The Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and Tatkin’s psycho-biological approach to couples. He looks forward to utilizing his level 1 EMDR training to assist returning combat veterans in re-establishing their civilian life.
Charlotte Kay, M.A., Registered M.F.T. Intern – There is deeper meaning behind the symptoms from which we suffer and through the relationship formed between client and psychotherapist, that meaning can be explored. This requires taking into consideration everything that makes us who we are including upbringing, life experiences, and issues of diversity such as gender, religion, age, culture, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and economic status. Charlotte uses an eclectic approach, emphasizing the connection between mind and body. She meets each client where they are, tailoring treatment so that each can engage their inner resources in order to reduce conflict in one's self and with others in their lives. Charlotte treats individuals, children, adolescents, couples, and families with a variety of clinical concerns such as conflict resolution, anxiety, depression, individuation, existential crisis, trauma, divorce & relationship issues, grief, and life changes.
Rena Pollak, M.A., Registered M.F.T. Intern - Rena joins her clients in an exploration of the beliefs and world views that they have acquired in reaction to their experiences in life. She helps clients dismantle the negative beliefs that block them from feeling fulfilled and empowered in their lives and encourages them to create new ways of viewing the world and themselves that generate more connection with their true selves and the social world around them. Rena works with children, individuals, couples, and groups.
Sarah Stickeler M.A., Registered M.F.T. Intern – Sarah has a calm and gentle presence and will provide you with a safe and supportive space to explore and enhance the development of your life’s journey. Together we will approach life’s obstacles past and present which have resulted in suffering in the form of anxiety and depression and other psychic imbalances and learn to find purpose and meaning in these ailments and in doing so turn them into strengths.
Shelia Sutton is a graduate student in psychology at Pacifica Graduate School in Santa Barbara, California. Her current interests include, but are not limited to, brain health and functioning and their impact on relationship to self and others; maturity and individuation; healing trauma; the practice of mindfulness in treating depression, anxiety and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder; ongoing personal therapy as an opportunity for in-depth exploration of the unconscious; empathic attunement as an artistic life skill; and writing and story-telling as paths to deeper healing.
